Maggie’s Minions
Story
At just six months old, Maggie was diagnosed with Ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency (OTC deficiency), a rare genetic condition that affects just 1 in 77,000 children.
For years, hospital stays, strict diets, and constant medication were part of their routine.
Her family worked daily to manage her condition, which prevented her from processing protein and put her at risk for brain damage.
Plenty of time was spent on cockatoo ward being cared for by all the amazing doctors, nurses, allied health and support staff.
Everything changed when Maggie received a life-saving liver transplant. Now, one year later, she's thriving. She is enjoying meals like chicken and spaghetti bolognese, and has only needed two hospital stays in the past year!

The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal (Good Friday Appeal) brings together people from all parts of the community to raise money for the benefit of The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Funds raised support research, state-of-the-art equipment, education and training, and family centred care programs.
