Hello everyone,
This March, I’ll be taking part in the Run for the Kids event to raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.
As many of you know, our son Sidney has been bravely enduring a serious liver condition called biliary atresia. At just 10 weeks old, he underwent a major operation in February 2025. Since then, we’ve spent a total of 58 nights in hospital on the Cockatoo Ward at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), across numerous separate visits.
The Royal Children’s Hospital hasn’t just cared for Sidney medically — they have carried us through some of our hardest moments.
Our incredible Liver Clinical Nurse Consultants are amazing. We genuinely couldn’t get through week to week without them. They are always just a phone call or email away, patiently answering our questions and guiding us through some very stressful times.
Dr Tom and the Gastro team care for Sidney with extraordinary knowledge and dedication. Their tireless monitoring and constant support ensure Sidney’s health — and just as importantly, his happiness — is always front of mind.
And then there are the nurses and patient services staff — the amazing people who show up every single day with warmth, kindness and encouragement. In some of our darkest moments, they have brought light, comfort and strength when we needed it most.
This will be my first 14km run since Sidney was born. It won’t be easy — but that’s exactly the point. I’ll be digging deep because Sidney has had to be brave at every single hospital visit. This run is for him.
I’m dedicating every kilometre to the extraordinary staff at RCH who make each visit that little bit easier, and to the families walking a similar path.
Since 1931, the Good Friday Appeal has raised vital funds to help RCH continue giving children the brightest possible futures. Our family is living proof of just how important that support is.

The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal (Good Friday Appeal) brings together people from all parts of the community to raise money for the benefit of The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Funds raised support research, state-of-the-art equipment, education and training, and family centred care programs.
